Happy Days at the Kitchen Theatre

Ithaca College isn’t the only venue offering some great theater this weekend. The Kitchen Theatre in downtown Ithaca is showing “Happy Days” by Samuel Beckett.

Written in 1961 the play is a humorous and heartbreaking examination of the meaning of life. Winnie, the main character is a perpetually optimistic woman that presses on through life’s daily routines with a sunny outlook. According to the Kitchen Theatre’s press release the play is “a celebration and a warning, hilarious and heartbreaking.”

The play will be directed by Jesse Bush and the role of Winnie will be played by Kitchen Theatre veteran Susannah Berryman.

Opening night is tonight at 8 p.m. and it will run through November 2nd. Tickets range from $21-$36. Tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Center at the Historic Clinton House on 116 N. Cayuga St. or online at kitchentheatre.org.
